Anyone know if the extension cord is water proof or do I need to unplug it before it begins to rain or snow? I know that this is a safety feature but need to understand if the use of an extension cord will in any way create a danger zone at my tree?
Thank You.

If it is the usual three pronged orange cord, it is rated for outdoor use. So yes, the cord is waterproof. The plugs are not, but will withstand the moisture. You should wrap the plugs with electrical tape for added safety.
